Lombok here i come!

Finally i visited this island! Always curious because ppl said it’s better than Bali. So i flew to Lombok on august 29th with Garuda Indonesia, best airline in Indonesia. It was 3 days trip.

It was 2 hours flight, weather was nice not too many clouds. I went there with a friend who was a good companion for this trip.

We landed at 1pm and went outside the airport thinking to have some lunch first because it took 1.5 hrs driving to our hotel.

What makes me surprise was the limited options of restaurants! I mean this is an international airport and so many tourists come here. So we skipped lunch and just went for a taxi.

Just remember one thing when you are in a place which you are not familiar with just act like you know it all. Because here so many taxi drivers will go after you once you’re out of the arrival area. And they were hardly giving up even if we said that we already had someone to pick us up.

Ended up we finally got a taxi, costs us around 200k idr from airport to Sudimala Resort in Pantai Senggigi.

The hotel was nice, our suite was big enough and so comfy with a nice patio and garden view.

Because we were so hungry after skipping lunch, we went for some foods around the hotel by looking at recommendation in Trip Advisor. We decided to have super late lunch at Warung Paradiso.

It’s not a fancy restaurant, just a small building even doesn’t look like a restaurant. But the staff were welcoming you very nice, and some tourists seem like always coming back to this place.

Foods were very tasty tho! Really don’t judge the book by its cover. Sorry i didn’t take any pictures of the foods but seriously i love their steam fish so much! So fresh.
It’s actually better to come on dinner time, the view will be more beautiful and more romantic because they light up some torches and candles.

IMG_5912.JPG

Tomorrow we went to gili trawangan by a charter boat. Here’s a tip…just bargain as low as you can, i got 500k idr round trip for two. They asked for 450k each at first. And we rode a cidomo (horse cart) because they said it’s quite far to go to the tour who sold the boat ticket.
And you know? You better walk, it’s only 15 mins walking.

It was about 30 mins to go to gili trawangan and…..actually it didn’t look like what i expected. Don’t get me wrong, the sea was very beautiful but since so many reviews said that it’s place for party and stuff so i expect more.
It’s actually just restaurants, cafe, some diving vendors. If you like diving or snorkeling, it might be heaven.

After walking around the island, we decided to have lunch at Scallywags. They have barbecue at night. Foods were varied but mostly taste already adapted to tourists tastebud.
Ice cream was not too good, too watery. So yeah it’s just a so so i guess.

IMG_5922.JPG

IMG_5921.JPG

No motorcycle or car in this island so the air was so fresh. You can rent bicycle or just ride on the cidomo to go around the island.

We went back to lombok after buying some cloth in the art market. Well it’s a woven cloth in traditional lombok pattern.
Had dinner in Warung Paradiso for one more time *seriously no foods were failed*. After that we spent night chatting at the patio til midnight because tomorrow we will be leaving to jakarta.

Next day we woke up early. It took 1.5 hours driving back to the airport. Had hot latte at Coffee Bean to start up the day.
Landed back safe and sound to Jakarta and honestly i still prefer to go to Bali 🙂
I think Lombok would be nice for a honeymoon couple.
So can’t wait for another trip! Cheers!

1/15 , Gandaria

Hi again! Now i’d like to share a bit about my newest loved coffeeshop in jakarta. It’s calleds 1/15 located in Gandaria.
This coffee shop is not too big but they are spacious with simple furniture design and lay out. And i love the big window, give enough light to come in.

20140420-221453.jpg

They basically only sell coffee, cakes and some maincourses. You just have to order and pay for your coffee and food on the counter.

Have you ever felt confused when ordering a cup of coffee? It’s like what’s the different between flat white and latte? That’s why in their menu book, they give a bit explanation of what kind of coffee drink you order. And that helps a lot especially for a beginner 🙂

So i had their coffee latte. It has strong coffee taste with minimal sourness. And it’s so silky! I love it. It’s definitely going to be one of my favorite latte beside the monolog’s.

20140420-222111.jpg

Price was wise though, almost similiar to starbucks. And this one is way more coffeelicious than bucks 🙂 *sorry for starbucks lovers out there*
Pssst… I’m still drinking starbucks tho everyday :p

And i also had the Chocolate Beer Cake and Scones with Buttermilk and Strawberry Jam

20140420-222359.jpg

20140420-222407.jpg

The chocolate beer cake has no hint of beer taste at all. Well i did taste something like tape (fermented cassava) maybe that’s just the alcohol left from the beer. It’s pretty good tho, served warm to your plate.
And the scones was just so so, taste like other scones.

Definitely will go back here one day to have another coffee experience and also to try their brunch menu.

Have a good coffee day everyone!

Cacaote

Some of you guys must have been heard this famous dessert place. Yes located inSenopati, it’s Cacaote one of the hippiest dessert place in Jakarta.

Once we came in, it looks just like the princess palace. It’s super cute, flowery, lacey, pink and white color domination. Thought would be no boy were having desserts in this place, but surprisingly i saw like 4-5 boys here hang out with their friends. It’s like a super girly place.

We had some desserts and juices. They also serve some main courses, but was too full to give it a try.

Here’s what we ordered :

20140420-214132.jpg

Forgot the exact name anyway, but the star among the dishes is the salted caramel eclair. It’s super good. In fact i’m craving for some more now lol.
Ah they also serve macaroons with so many various flavors. Price for desserts here start from 15k-50k idr++ if i’m not mistaken.

It’s kinda pricey for just dessert though but it’s worth to give it a try. The desserts are delicious and look pretty too.

Eric Kayser, Plaza Senayan

Hi all! So good to be back blogging again, will be so many late posts in it.

So this time i’ll review a new place called Eric Kayser Artisan Boulangerie. It’s located in Plaza Senayan (which is one of my favorite mall in jakarta) next to the stairs to Remboelan Restaurant. When we came here it was so packed with people, we almost ended up in waiting list. But thankfully one of my friends knew the owner, so we got an instant access 😀

Heard some rumours about their famous coffee eclairs so me and my friends decided to try it.

I ordered hot coffee latte, and my friends had lychee iced tea for the drinks. Since we’re not too hungry, we just ordered coffee eclairs and a pizza (i forgot the name but it’s supposed to be their most recommended menu for pizza).

The coffee was nice, price was ok around 30k idr ++. But still i think the best coffee i had recently was in the 1/15 (will post about it later).

Honestly the coffee eclair was not as superb as i imagine. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good but for 50k idr ++ i can get a better and bigger size of eclair.

The best dish that night was the pizza, the meat is so good! They use crispy pizza dough, topped up with some arugula, beef, and cheese. Seriously you have to order this menu if you guys came up here.

This boulangerie (or we could say bakery in english) also for sure sell breads and stuff. I might be back here to try some of their breads 🙂

Wild honey for brunch! hurray!

2nd day in SG and we plan to do shopping at Orchard Road! I ♥ shopping! But not paying the bills :p
Promised not to shop anymore since I already shop much at KL. But promise just promise 😀

In the morning, we started our day by eating Subway, one of kinda healthy fastfood thingy. Seriously they served good brownies, it’s gooey inside.so yum!

We had brunch at Wild Honey, Mandarin Gallery. One of the hippiest brunch place in SG. They have another branch at Scott’s Road, not too far away from the Mandarin Gallery. It’s full by the time we arrived, so we’re listed on the waiting list for about 30-45 mins.
But luckily! In a 15 mins later they called my friend told him that our table was ready.

Many expats come here and had brunch. They have no menu books so u have to come to the counter and read all the menu on the board, order, and pay it at the cashiers. We ordered Eggs Benedictor they call it European Breakfast, Tunisian Breakfast,Spinach Saladand Wild Honey Iced Tea.

I prefer the tunisian breakfast than the eggs benedict. It’s more savory, the combination of chorizo and the tomato sauce with half poached eggs just lovely. You can dip the fluffy bread to the sauce…hmmm so (˘ڡ˘).
But what I really ♥ is the spinach salad, the waiter told me that it’s one of the best salads here. The addition of pumpkins and sweet potato just give a natural sweetness to the salad.

Because many ppl just waiting in line to be seated, the waiter asked us if we already finished so they can give our table to others. That’s a minus one.
It’s kinda pricey eating here but it’s worth it to give it a try.

We spent all day from store to store. Forever 21, uniqlo,h&m,sephora! I ♥ living here! Haha
Ends up we brought 3 big bags of clothes and everything.

when we walked outside suddenly rain was falling. We went into the Charlie Brown Cafe just waiting for the rain to stop. It’s a fun interior, all in snoopy. Snoopy and friends are everywhere. Cute and lovely.
I ordered coffee machiattoand Chicken wings. The taste just so so! But the snoopy face on the foam just cute ♥

Since we were kinda hungry we decide to have some dimsum at Din Tai Fung. It’s Yamcha time! We ordered two portions of Xiao Long Bao and Pithan Eggsor they might call it a hundred years egg.
What could be wrong with dimsums and tea?it was delicious, there’s no doubt.
Funny thing was the waiter kept talking to us in Chinese. Since me and my sist had no idea to talk in Chinese we just nodded everytime the waiter came and served our foods. Even if they served the wrong ones, we wouldn’t notice 😀

The night is still young! So we went to Clarke Quay and had some drinks at Shooters which is known also for their good Chicken Wings. Beers, friend, sister, chat, funny jokes…just what u need to have a happy night.

Ps: sorry for many forgotten pics taken :p

singapore’s trip

From KL to SG, that’s my last sweet escape itinerary. Had a nice flight with air asia to SG, I always had a good experience with air asia,so I would say that they might be the best low cost airlines esp in asia.

Arrived at SG at noon,an old friend picked me and my sis at the airport. What I ♥ about this city is their public transport, just simply take the MRT or bus and you can go anywhere. Some might find it’s a boring city anyway.

We stayed at Bugis, one of the famous street esp for indonesian for cheap shopping and foods.
Since we had no lunch we were kinda hungry back then, decided to give a try for Poulet at Bugis. It’s a French restaurant. My friend said that it’s good. So we ordered the “Chicken in a creamy mushroom sauce” (I forgot the name!) and Oxtail stew.
The chicken was good, the creaminess of the sauce just add some taste to the lovely cooked chicken.
The oxtail stew was nice also, it’s cooked with red wine sauce..red wine and meat! What would you say?it’s simply delicious. The waiter here were also helpful 😉

After that we just tour walking around the city. Hoped on from train to train. One impossible thing to do in Jakarta.

Since we were craving for some street foods we went to Chinatown. BUT! I don’t know what happened that day, many stalls just closed early. So we didn’t get a chance to have some delicioso street foods *sighs*.

Later that night we tried some desserts at Bugis street just before we went back to the hotel. It’s called Dessert Place, kinda full of packs that night. So we assumed it must be good. The dessert we ordered was Mango pudding and Almond pudding soya milk pudding.
Seriously I think the dessert of Hui Lau San taste better.
The mango pudding just so so, and the soya milk pudding taste like cough syrup.

Ah! We had some fritters for snacks that day! But I forgot to take a pic of them! We bought banana, jackfruit and durian fritters! The durian I ♥ so much! It’s so (˘ڡ˘) .
I always ♥ singaporeans snacks.

super sweet escape part 3

here goes the 3rd day..and it started in the morning we went to IKEA to have the super famous Swedish Meatball. They serve only beef here so no pork thingy. I do heart this meatball so much! It’s a perfect combination with the gravy sauce and the lingonberry jam. Super yum!
We also order a Chocolate Cake for dessert. But I didn’t enjoy it much, it’s too sweet for my likey.

We moved from the IKEA and went back to Sunway Pyramid Mall where I finally can have the Popeye’s famous biscuit. I know it’s sounds weird to have a fast food while travelling, but who cares? I got the biscuit! \(´▽`)/
It’s crisp outside but chewy and soft inside, come on Y U NO sell this thing in Indonesia???

Since I had such a big craving for Peri Peri Chicken we decided to go to Nandos. Spicy yet delicious is the only way to describe their peri peri sauce. We also ordered a mushroom soup, but it is actually tasted like some instant soup. Ah try the garlic bread,it is also so good!

Since we’re going home earlier because we had to catch up a “not too morning” flight,we decided to buy a Po Piah. It has crispy skin with yummy fillings. The kind of food you can have for midnight snack 😀
Note : I finished watching all the episodes of HIMYM season 8 in a night ♥

Super sweet escape part 2

And here goes the day 2 I was at Kuala Lumpur. We went to Sunway Pyramid Mall, my sister said there’s a place sells delicious mango dessert. It’s called Hui Lau Shan. It was super crowded, long queue so I assume it must be very good. So we ordered Mango Romance,Mango sticky pudding, and Ice mango with coconut jelly.

The mango romance is good for food tasting, because it’s 3 kind of mango desserts in a small portion,so you can taste more. This one contains mango filling mochi, jelly with mango ice cream, and the one like wedang ronde in indonesia but with mango cubes. I do like the mochi better. And for the “wedang ronde” is not my likey, couldn’t find the suitable taste for mango combined with ginger hint.

The mango sticky pudding was so so, I prefer the din tai fung mango pudding. I didn’t taste the ice mango with coconut jelly.

After enjoying some mango snacks, we continue the food hunting to Levain Boulangerie and Patisserie, the new hippie cafe in KL. I ♥ the cute bakery and kitchen (they call it stone oven).
It’s kinda packed that noon, we’re kind struggling to find an empty table for 4 persons. And one thing I realize that, the waiters here are way much worse than the usual I met at indo’s cafes. Seems like no politeness and smile needed here.

Well let’s cut the crap, we order some pasta because we heard that they serve nice pastas. Chicken meatballs spaghetti bolognaise, seafood aglio olio, and lamb ragout homemade fetuccini are what we had. And we also order some drinks Berry tea and Passion fruit tea.
It didn’t take too long for our foods to come.
And…..it was really a so so flavor. Kinda bland, and the pasta were not al dente. It’s not worth the price! The drinks were weird taste, not sour not sweet not bland. Really really not my thing.
I mean it’s nice to have a good ambiance, good interior but I don’t pay for the interior only! I also pay for the food errrrmmm…

My sister’s friend also bought some macaroons. The surprise flavor was durian! He said it was good! But mostly ppl come to this place to buy some bakeries or desserts, because we seldom saw ppl order their main course here.
So we decided to buy Pizza, Walnut Bread, and a white bread with marmalade jam. Seriously their bakeries taste waaaay better than the food! I ♥ the fluffiness of their white bread (˘ڡ˘) .

Since we were kinda disappointed with our lunch,we stopped at the Asia Cafe (it’s like a big food court, many stalls sell various foods). It’s time for seafoods party! Crabs, clams, stingray fish!I ♥ all those foods! The crabs was not as big as usual they told me but It’s sweet and meaty. This is way much better than the cafe foods. And it doesn’t cost u much as the cafe did 😉 . How I love street food!

super sweet escape part 1

Hola! Been so long since the last post. Well, I just had my sweet escape to KL and SG last week. After a very very hard struggling to get leaves from work (-_-“!)

Well this trip to KL and SG were all about foods and shopping. I didn’t go to any tourist attraction, I just did food hunting \(´▽`)/ (no wonder I gain almost 2kgs after the trip).

I was with my sister, she lives in KL. Right after she and her bf picked me up at the airport (LCCT – KL budget terminals) we went to Sushi Zanmai. They told me that it’s better than the famous Sushi Tei.

We ordered many sushi, donburi and yakimeshi. Too bad I didn’t take a pictures of these foods, guess I was too hungry that time hehe… The salmon sushi is good, salmon belly is melting but the highlight of the day was salmon peach sushi! Trust me it’s super good with a hint of sweetness of the peach. The rest of all foods were nice. The waiter anyway kept coming back and refill our empty glasses with ocha. And it’s not too pricey, just a slightly higher than sushi tei.

And then me and my sister spent some time shopping at the bukit bintang area. We went to H&M,sephora, vincci and other shops.
Since we felt that we are kinda tired and my sister want some Cha Time, so we decided to take a break and have a glass of cold bubble tea. I kinda surprised to see the menu, many kinds of drinks that they don’t sell in indo.

I ordered for Lychee Yakult Bubble Tea and my sister had Passionfruit Bubble Tea. The lychee is good, it’s not overly too lychee with the hint of yakult flavor. And the price is bit cheaper here than indo.

Funny thing was when I asked the waiter for wi-fi, they told me that they don’t know the user id and password for Cha Time wi-fi. And I was just like WTH???

For dinner we went to Delicious. It’s a cafe, they sell mostly western foods and they have some branches in Malaysia. This time we visited the one at Dua Residency. There were a funny lines on our way to this place, it said “The Where’s Where for the Who’s Who” (if I’m not mistaken).

The interior were nice, but the no waiter greeted us by the time we arrived. And not much customers came on that night because they still have many empty tables.
Me and my sister actually were interested to the breakfast menu but too bad it’s not the all day breakfast.
So we ordered Beef Bacon Aglio Olio,Caesar Salad, and Carrot Cake. The pasta was mediocre, Caesar Salad was ok (I ♥ the beef bacon chips), but the Carrot cake was super good! It was dense but moist with a hint of cinnamon flavor. And the creamcheese was super good. This was definitely a sweet ending for that night!♥
